Nigeria is inhabited by more than 250 ethnic groups which speak about 500 distinct languages.

The 3 largest ethnic groups are the Hausa, Yoruba and Igbo.

​

The country's film industry, known as Nollywood is one of the largest film producers in the world, 2nd only to India's Bollywood.

​

Nigeria's longest river the Niger River which is 2,547 miles in length.

 

There are 2 UNIESCO world heritage sites in Nigeria, the Sukur Cultural Landscape and the Osun-Osogbo Sacred Grove.

​

Nigeria mainly exports petroleum and petroleum products, but also to a much smaller amount, rubber products, peanuts, cotton and palm oil.

​

The highest point in Nigeria is the mountain Chapel Waddi at 7,936 ft.

​

Football (soccer) is popular in Nigeria, the national team is known as the "Super Eagles."  They have made 5 appearances at the World Cup, won the African Cup of Nations 3 times and won the football gold medal at the 1996 Olympics.
